Case studies
A closer look at three client campaigns: where they started, what I changed, and what the numbers looked like afterwards.
Coach · Online course
Ad spend
→
Revenue
This coach needed to sell an online course and grow his personal brand. I built a conversion-focused funnel and ran strategic ads to it, turning a $2,773.25 investment into $15,267.29 in sales.
Non-profit · Fundraising
Ad spend
→
Revenue
This non-profit was losing money on its fundraising ads when they brought me in. In the first month, $970 in ad spend raised $6,422, and the wider fundraising effort went on to generate more than $600K that year.
High-ticket services
Ad spend
→
Revenue
This business sells high-ticket services and products. I rebuilt the ad strategy around stronger creatives and smarter retargeting, then tightened spend and targeting, turning $2.9K into $20,472.10 in revenue.
Local market
Advertising conditions are not identical across Georgia. Businesses competing in a major metropolitan area can face a different paid-search environment from companies serving smaller cities, suburban markets, or rural areas. The strategy should reflect those differences rather than treating an entire state as one uniform advertising market.
Georgia has about 11.3 million residents, and more than half of them live in Metro Atlanta, a region of roughly 6.3 million people that is one of the largest and fastest-growing metros in the Southeast. Outside Atlanta, the state is made up of mid-sized regional centers such as Savannah, Augusta, Columbus and Macon, plus large agricultural areas in South Georgia.
Atlanta’s economy spans logistics, film and television production, technology, healthcare and corporate headquarters, and the airport ranks among the busiest in the world. That variety creates demand for almost every kind of business, along with intense competition in legal, medical, home-service and real estate categories.
Rapid suburban growth in counties such as Forsyth, Cherokee, Henry and Gwinnett keeps creating new demand for home builders, home services, schools and healthcare, while the coast and mountains add tourism to the mix.
This page is not a claim that I run a local office in Georgia. I work remotely.
What matters is that Atlanta, Savannah and the rest of the state are planned as different markets instead of one blended campaign, so you can see what each area actually returns.
Businesses operating in major metro areas often face greater advertiser density because more companies are competing for the same high-intent searches.
Smaller markets may have different challenges.
Search volume can be lower, service areas can be larger, and campaigns may need to balance efficient geographic coverage with enough search demand to produce useful data.
The correct strategy depends on the market.
That is why statewide Google Ads management should analyze performance geographically instead of assuming every city deserves the same investment.
What gets in the way
When I review Georgia accounts, the same handful of problems tends to explain most of the wasted spend.
A home-service company bidding across Metro Atlanta competes with dozens of large, well-funded advertisers, and traffic means a business on one side of the Perimeter may not want leads from the other. The same company in Valdosta or Albany will see far fewer competitors, but much less search volume.
A company may technically serve all of Georgia while still having areas where customers are more valuable, easier to reach, or operationally practical.
Campaigns can be segmented around:
Georgia’s long, hot summers drive heavy demand for AC repair, pest control and pool services, while spring brings severe thunderstorms and occasional tornadoes that trigger roofing and tree-service searches. The coast faces hurricane exposure from June through November, and the North Georgia mountains see fall tourism peaks.
“emergency plumber near me”
“roof repair Atlanta”
“dentist in Savannah”
“business attorney Augusta”
often reveal significantly stronger commercial intent than broad informational queries.
A local Google Ads campaign should be built around that distinction.
City by city
Four parts of Georgia that show why one statewide campaign rarely fits every market:
Metro Atlanta covers more than two dozen counties, and each has its own price point and competition. Intown neighborhoods, the northern suburbs and the southern counties often behave like separate markets.
Traffic is a major factor. A contractor based in Marietta may lose money on leads from Stockbridge, so splitting campaigns by county or by drive-time zones usually improves cost per lead significantly. Strong reviews and fast response times are essential in such a crowded market.
Savannah combines one of the country’s busiest container ports, a large manufacturing and logistics base, a major art and design college and strong tourism. The region is also growing quickly with new manufacturing investment.
Campaigns here should separate tourism from local services, prepare for hurricane-related demand, and target the fast-growing suburbs such as Pooler and Richmond Hill separately from the historic city center.
Augusta is a regional center for healthcare, a major Army installation and a growing cybersecurity sector, and it shares a market with nearby South Carolina communities such as North Augusta and Aiken.
Businesses here should decide deliberately whether to include South Carolina searches. Competition is moderate, and call-focused campaigns with clear local trust signals often perform well.
Columbus, home to a major Army installation and a strong financial services sector, and Macon, a central Georgia crossroads with healthcare and manufacturing, are mid-sized markets with lower costs per click than Atlanta.
Search volume is moderate, so campaigns should be structured to gather enough data, with fewer, broader ad groups and careful conversion tracking.
I can also help businesses targeting customers outside Georgia’s largest metro areas, in markets such as Athens, Albany, Valdosta, Rome, Dalton, Brunswick and the North Georgia mountain towns.
A smaller market does not automatically mean an easier campaign.
Lower search volume, larger service territories, and fewer daily conversion opportunities can make good targeting and measurement even more important.
Georgia campaign plan
Georgia is on Eastern Time, and Metro Atlanta dominates both search volume and competition. The rest of the state is where many businesses find cheaper, steadier leads.
Industry strategy
In Georgia, Atlanta’s rapid growth, a hot climate and a strong logistics economy shape which industries get the most value from paid search. These are the ones I see most often.
Georgia’s port, interstate network and airport have made it a major logistics hub. Trucking companies, freight brokers, warehouse operators, equipment dealers and staffing firms all compete for business.
What I focus on: B2B keywords around specific services and lanes, exclusion of job-seeker traffic, location targeting around logistics corridors, and tracking quote requests and qualified calls.
Georgia’s warm, humid climate supports termites, mosquitoes, fire ants and fast-growing lawns, which makes pest control and lawn care consistent, competitive search categories.
What I focus on: seasonal budgets that rise in spring and summer, separate campaigns for one-time treatments and recurring plans, and tracking calls and booked inspections.
Fast-growing suburbs around Atlanta and Savannah create steady demand for builders, real estate agents, home inspectors, landscapers and services for new homeowners.
What I focus on: targeting growth counties and relocation searches from other states, ad copy for new-home buyers, and tracking qualified appointments and visits.

Questions
Competition varies significantly by industry and location.
Metro Atlanta is by far the most competitive part of Georgia, with high costs per click in legal, healthcare, home services and real estate. Savannah and Augusta are moderately competitive, while South Georgia and rural areas usually have fewer advertisers and lower search volume.
A statewide average can hide major differences between markets.
That is why I prefer evaluating the actual keywords, cities, services, and competitors relevant to your business.
In Georgia I see consistent Google Ads demand from HVAC companies, pest control and lawn care businesses, roofers, home builders, personal injury and family law firms, dental and medical practices, logistics companies and coastal tourism businesses.
They share high customer values and customers who search Google first when they need help.
That depends on where customers are located and where your business can realistically serve them.
For some businesses, statewide targeting makes sense.
For others, separating Atlanta, Savannah, and other priority areas provides better budget control.
They can be, especially when a larger number of advertisers compete for the same commercial searches.
However, cost per click alone does not determine profitability.
A more expensive market can still make sense if:
Yes.
Smaller markets can still contain strong commercial search demand.
The campaign may simply need a different strategy around:
