Case studies
A closer look at three client campaigns: where they started, what I changed, and what the numbers looked like afterwards.
Coach · Online course
Ad spend
→
Revenue
This coach needed to sell an online course and grow his personal brand. I built a conversion-focused funnel and ran strategic ads to it, turning a $2,773.25 investment into $15,267.29 in sales.
Non-profit · Fundraising
Ad spend
→
Revenue
This non-profit was losing money on its fundraising ads when they brought me in. In the first month, $970 in ad spend raised $6,422, and the wider fundraising effort went on to generate more than $600K that year.
High-ticket services
Ad spend
→
Revenue
This business sells high-ticket services and products. I rebuilt the ad strategy around stronger creatives and smarter retargeting, then tightened spend and targeting, turning $2.9K into $20,472.10 in revenue.
Local market
Advertising conditions are not identical across Wyoming. Businesses competing in a major metropolitan area can face a different paid-search environment from companies serving smaller cities, suburban markets, or rural areas. The strategy should reflect those differences rather than treating an entire state as one uniform advertising market.
Wyoming is the least populous state in the country, with about 589,000 residents, and its largest cities, Cheyenne and Casper, each have fewer than 70,000 people. Communities are small and spread across vast distances.
Energy production, including coal, oil, natural gas and wind, dominates the economy, alongside ranching and tourism around Yellowstone and Grand Teton. Jackson Hole is one of the wealthiest areas in the country, with luxury homes and resort tourism.
For advertisers, competition is light almost everywhere except Jackson, but search volume is very limited, so campaigns must be simple and patient.
This page is not a claim that I run a local office in Wyoming. I work remotely.
What matters is that Cheyenne, Casper and the rest of the state are planned as different markets instead of one blended campaign, so you can see what each area actually returns.
Businesses operating in major metro areas often face greater advertiser density because more companies are competing for the same high-intent searches.
Smaller markets may have different challenges.
Search volume can be lower, service areas can be larger, and campaigns may need to balance efficient geographic coverage with enough search demand to produce useful data.
The correct strategy depends on the market.
That is why statewide Google Ads management should analyze performance geographically instead of assuming every city deserves the same investment.
What gets in the way
When I review Wyoming accounts, the same handful of problems tends to explain most of the wasted spend.
A home-service company in Cheyenne competes with Northern Colorado advertisers near the border. Businesses in Jackson face competition in luxury and tourism categories, while most of the state has very few advertisers.
A company may technically serve all of Wyoming while still having areas where customers are more valuable, easier to reach, or operationally practical.
Campaigns can be segmented around:
Wyoming winters are long, cold and windy, driving heating and snow removal demand, while summer brings Yellowstone and Grand Teton tourism and a short construction season.
“emergency plumber near me”
“roof repair Cheyenne”
“dentist in Casper”
“business attorney Jackson”
often reveal significantly stronger commercial intent than broad informational queries.
A local Google Ads campaign should be built around that distinction.
City by city
Four parts of Wyoming that show why one statewide campaign rarely fits every market:
Cheyenne, the state capital, has government, F.E. Warren Air Force Base and logistics employers, and is close to Fort Collins, Colorado.
Businesses should decide whether to include Colorado searches.
Casper is a center for the energy industry and serves central Wyoming.
Energy-sector B2B services have strong demand.
Jackson is a luxury resort area near Grand Teton and Yellowstone.
Premium home services, real estate and tourism are especially active.
Laramie is home to the University of Wyoming.
Demand follows the academic calendar.
I can also help businesses targeting customers outside Wyoming’s largest metro areas, in markets such as Gillette, Rock Springs, Sheridan, Cody, Riverton and Rawlins.
A smaller market does not automatically mean an easier campaign.
Lower search volume, larger service territories, and fewer daily conversion opportunities can make good targeting and measurement even more important.
Wyoming campaign plan
Wyoming is on Mountain Time and has the smallest population of any state. Most local businesses serve one town or region, and search volume is low enough that tight targeting matters more than bidding.
Industry strategy
In Wyoming, energy production, ranching and national park tourism shape which industries get the most value from paid search. These are the ones I see most often.
Coal, oil, gas and wind support suppliers and service companies.
What I focus on: technical keywords, exclusion of job seekers, and RFQ tracking.
Yellowstone and Grand Teton attract visitors for lodging and tours.
What I focus on: targeting trip planners and booking tracking.
Ranches support equipment dealers and agricultural services.
What I focus on: niche keywords and call tracking.

Questions
Competition varies significantly by industry and location.
Jackson is the most competitive area in Wyoming for luxury services and tourism, while Cheyenne and Casper are moderately competitive. Most areas have very few advertisers.
A statewide average can hide major differences between markets.
That is why I prefer evaluating the actual keywords, cities, services, and competitors relevant to your business.
In Wyoming I see consistent Google Ads demand from HVAC contractors, energy-sector suppliers, tourism businesses, real estate agents, law firms and ranching services.
They benefit because their customers search with clear needs.
That depends on where customers are located and where your business can realistically serve them.
For some businesses, statewide targeting makes sense.
For others, separating Cheyenne, Casper, and other priority areas provides better budget control.
They can be, especially when a larger number of advertisers compete for the same commercial searches.
However, cost per click alone does not determine profitability.
A more expensive market can still make sense if:
Yes.
Smaller markets can still contain strong commercial search demand.
The campaign may simply need a different strategy around:

Office & service area
I run Google Ads for businesses in Wyoming from my office in Washington, DC. Campaigns are geo-targeted to the cities, ZIP codes and radius you actually serve in Wyoming, so local searchers see your ads and out-of-area clicks are excluded. We work over video calls, WhatsApp and email, with the same account access and reporting wherever you are.
