Case studies
A closer look at three client campaigns: where they started, what I changed, and what the numbers looked like afterwards.
Coach · Online course
Ad spend
→
Revenue
This coach needed to sell an online course and grow his personal brand. I built a conversion-focused funnel and ran strategic ads to it, turning a $2,773.25 investment into $15,267.29 in sales.
Non-profit · Fundraising
Ad spend
→
Revenue
This non-profit was losing money on its fundraising ads when they brought me in. In the first month, $970 in ad spend raised $6,422, and the wider fundraising effort went on to generate more than $600K that year.
High-ticket services
Ad spend
→
Revenue
This business sells high-ticket services and products. I rebuilt the ad strategy around stronger creatives and smarter retargeting, then tightened spend and targeting, turning $2.9K into $20,472.10 in revenue.
Local market
Advertising conditions are not identical across Idaho. Businesses competing in a major metropolitan area can face a different paid-search environment from companies serving smaller cities, suburban markets, or rural areas. The strategy should reflect those differences rather than treating an entire state as one uniform advertising market.
Idaho has about 2.03 million residents and has been one of the fastest-growing states in the country, adding roughly 190,000 people since 2020. The Boise metro is the largest and fastest-growing market, while Coeur d’Alene, Idaho Falls, Pocatello and Twin Falls serve their own regions.
Growth has been driven by in-migration from California, Washington and other states, along with technology, agriculture and outdoor recreation. New housing developments create strong demand for home builders and home services.
For advertisers, competition is growing quickly in Boise, while rural areas still have few advertisers.
I work with Idaho businesses remotely rather than from a local storefront.
The point is simple: a search in Boise and a search in Idaho Falls can deserve different bids, budgets and messages, and the account should be built to reflect that.
Businesses operating in major metro areas often face greater advertiser density because more companies are competing for the same high-intent searches.
Smaller markets may have different challenges.
Search volume can be lower, service areas can be larger, and campaigns may need to balance efficient geographic coverage with enough search demand to produce useful data.
The correct strategy depends on the market.
That is why statewide Google Ads management should analyze performance geographically instead of assuming every city deserves the same investment.
What gets in the way
Most underperforming Idaho campaigns I audit struggle with some combination of the following.
A home-service company in the Boise metro competes with a fast-growing number of advertisers. The same company in rural Idaho may face little competition, but limited search volume.
A company may technically serve all of Idaho while still having areas where customers are more valuable, easier to reach, or operationally practical.
Campaigns can be segmented around:
Idaho winters bring snow and heating demand, especially in the north and mountains, while summers are hot and dry in the south. Ski season and summer outdoor recreation drive tourism.
“emergency plumber near me”
“roof repair Boise”
“dentist in Coeur d’Alene”
“business attorney Idaho Falls”
often reveal significantly stronger commercial intent than broad informational queries.
A local Google Ads campaign should be built around that distinction.
City by city
A closer look at the Idaho markets where most local search demand is concentrated.
Boise, Meridian, Nampa and Eagle form a fast-growing metro with technology and healthcare employers.
Many newcomers rely on search, and campaigns should split by city.
Coeur d’Alene is a lake resort town connected to the Spokane market in Washington.
Businesses should decide whether to include Washington searches.
Idaho Falls is home to Idaho National Laboratory and agriculture.
Competition is moderate, and local reputation matters.
Twin Falls serves a large agricultural and food processing region.
Search volume is moderate, and campaigns should cover realistic service areas.
I can also help businesses targeting customers outside Idaho’s largest metro areas, in markets such as Pocatello, Lewiston, Moscow, Sandpoint, Sun Valley and Rexburg.
A smaller market does not automatically mean an easier campaign.
Lower search volume, larger service territories, and fewer daily conversion opportunities can make good targeting and measurement even more important.
Idaho campaign plan
Idaho is split between two time zones. Southern Idaho, including Boise, is on Mountain Time, while the northern Panhandle (Coeur d’Alene and Lewiston) is on Pacific Time and functions as part of the Spokane market.
Industry strategy
Paid-search demand in Idaho follows the local economy: rapid in-migration, agriculture and outdoor recreation. Here is how I approach the industries that benefit most.
Rapid growth creates demand for builders, landscapers and home services.
What I focus on: targeting growth areas and relocation searches, and tracking appointments.
Sun Valley, lakes and rivers attract visitors.
What I focus on: seasonal budgets, targeting trip planners, and direct booking tracking.
Farms and food processors support equipment dealers and agricultural services.
What I focus on: niche keywords, seasonal budgets, and call tracking.

Questions
Competition varies significantly by industry and location.
The Boise metro is the most competitive part of Idaho, followed by Coeur d’Alene. Rural areas usually have few advertisers.
A statewide average can hide major differences between markets.
That is why I prefer evaluating the actual keywords, cities, services, and competitors relevant to your business.
In Idaho I see consistent Google Ads demand from home builders, HVAC and roofing contractors, real estate agents, law firms, healthcare practices and outdoor recreation businesses.
They benefit because their customers search with clear needs.
That depends on where customers are located and where your business can realistically serve them.
For some businesses, statewide targeting makes sense.
For others, separating Boise, Coeur d’Alene, and other priority areas provides better budget control.
They can be, especially when a larger number of advertisers compete for the same commercial searches.
However, cost per click alone does not determine profitability.
A more expensive market can still make sense if:
Yes.
Smaller markets can still contain strong commercial search demand.
The campaign may simply need a different strategy around:

Office & service area
I run Google Ads for businesses in Idaho from my office in Washington, DC. Campaigns are geo-targeted to the cities, ZIP codes and radius you actually serve in Idaho, so local searchers see your ads and out-of-area clicks are excluded. We work over video calls, WhatsApp and email, with the same account access and reporting wherever you are.
