Case studies
A closer look at three client campaigns: where they started, what I changed, and what the numbers looked like afterwards.
Coach · Online course
Ad spend
→
Revenue
This coach needed to sell an online course and grow his personal brand. I built a conversion-focused funnel and ran strategic ads to it, turning a $2,773.25 investment into $15,267.29 in sales.
Non-profit · Fundraising
Ad spend
→
Revenue
This non-profit was losing money on its fundraising ads when they brought me in. In the first month, $970 in ad spend raised $6,422, and the wider fundraising effort went on to generate more than $600K that year.
High-ticket services
Ad spend
→
Revenue
This business sells high-ticket services and products. I rebuilt the ad strategy around stronger creatives and smarter retargeting, then tightened spend and targeting, turning $2.9K into $20,472.10 in revenue.
Local market
Advertising conditions are not identical across Nebraska. Businesses competing in a major metropolitan area can face a different paid-search environment from companies serving smaller cities, suburban markets, or rural areas. The strategy should reflect those differences rather than treating an entire state as one uniform advertising market.
Nebraska has about 2.02 million residents, and more than half of them live in the Omaha and Lincoln metros in the eastern part of the state. Western Nebraska is dominated by agriculture, cattle and small towns separated by long distances.
Omaha is home to several large corporate headquarters, along with insurance, finance, healthcare and transportation, while Lincoln combines state government and the University of Nebraska.
For advertisers, costs per click are generally moderate and competition is lighter than in larger states, but search volume outside the main metros is limited.
I don’t have an office in every Nebraska city, and I won’t pretend to.
What I bring is a campaign structure that treats Omaha, Lincoln, Grand Island and smaller markets as separate decisions, each with its own bids, budgets, location settings and search terms.
Businesses operating in major metro areas often face greater advertiser density because more companies are competing for the same high-intent searches.
Smaller markets may have different challenges.
Search volume can be lower, service areas can be larger, and campaigns may need to balance efficient geographic coverage with enough search demand to produce useful data.
The correct strategy depends on the market.
That is why statewide Google Ads management should analyze performance geographically instead of assuming every city deserves the same investment.
What gets in the way
These are the issues I see most often when Nebraska businesses come to me with an account that is spending money but not producing enough real customers.
A home-service company in the Omaha suburbs competes with advertisers from both Nebraska and Council Bluffs, Iowa. The same company in western Nebraska may face very few competitors, but limited search volume.
A company may technically serve all of Nebraska while still having areas where customers are more valuable, easier to reach, or operationally practical.
Campaigns can be segmented around:
Nebraska sees severe spring and summer storms with hail and tornadoes, cold winters with blizzards, and hot summers. Planting and harvest shape demand for agricultural businesses.
“emergency plumber near me”
“roof repair Omaha”
“dentist in Lincoln”
“business attorney Grand Island”
often reveal significantly stronger commercial intent than broad informational queries.
A local Google Ads campaign should be built around that distinction.
City by city
Each major Nebraska market has its own competition, customer behavior and seasonality. Here is how I think about four of them.
Omaha is Nebraska’s largest metro, with corporate headquarters, insurance, healthcare and transportation employers. Suburbs such as Papillion, Bellevue and Elkhorn are growing.
Campaigns should decide whether to include Council Bluffs and western Iowa, and split by suburb where customer values differ.
Lincoln combines state government, the University of Nebraska and a growing technology sector.
Demand follows the academic calendar for student-related services, while home services are steady year-round.
Grand Island, Kearney and Hastings serve large agricultural areas.
Campaigns should cover wide but realistic service areas, with call-focused ads for home and farm services.
North Platte and Scottsbluff serve huge rural areas built on agriculture and ranching.
Search volume is limited, so campaigns should be simple and well tracked.
I can also help businesses targeting customers outside Nebraska’s largest metro areas, in markets such as Kearney, Hastings, Norfolk, Columbus, North Platte and Scottsbluff.
A smaller market does not automatically mean an easier campaign.
Lower search volume, larger service territories, and fewer daily conversion opportunities can make good targeting and measurement even more important.
Nebraska campaign plan
Most of Nebraska is on Central Time, but the western Panhandle (Scottsbluff, Ogallala) is on Mountain Time. Omaha and Lincoln hold most of the population.
Industry strategy
Some industries consistently show strong paid-search demand in Nebraska, shaped by agriculture, insurance and transportation, and severe weather. Here is how I approach the most common ones.
Nebraska’s farms and ranches support equipment dealers, irrigation, feed and cattle services.
What I focus on: niche keywords, seasonal budgets, and call tracking.
Hail storms create recurring demand for roofing and siding.
What I focus on: storm-responsive budgets, trust-building ad copy, and tracking inspections.
Omaha’s insurance and finance sector supports agencies and advisers.
What I focus on: product-specific campaigns, compliance-aware ad copy, and tracking appointments.

Questions
Competition varies significantly by industry and location.
Omaha and Lincoln are the most competitive parts of Nebraska, while central and western Nebraska have very few advertisers.
A statewide average can hide major differences between markets.
That is why I prefer evaluating the actual keywords, cities, services, and competitors relevant to your business.
In Nebraska I see consistent Google Ads demand from roofing and HVAC contractors, agricultural businesses, insurance agencies, law firms, healthcare practices and home builders.
They benefit because their customers search with clear needs.
That depends on where customers are located and where your business can realistically serve them.
For some businesses, statewide targeting makes sense.
For others, separating Omaha, Lincoln, and other priority areas provides better budget control.
They can be, especially when a larger number of advertisers compete for the same commercial searches.
However, cost per click alone does not determine profitability.
A more expensive market can still make sense if:
Yes.
Smaller markets can still contain strong commercial search demand.
The campaign may simply need a different strategy around:
More locations

Office & service area
I run Google Ads for businesses in Nebraska from my office in Washington, DC. Campaigns are geo-targeted to the cities, ZIP codes and radius you actually serve in Nebraska, so local searchers see your ads and out-of-area clicks are excluded. We work over video calls, WhatsApp and email, with the same account access and reporting wherever you are.
