Case studies
A closer look at three client campaigns: where they started, what I changed, and what the numbers looked like afterwards.
Coach · Online course
Ad spend
→
Revenue
This coach needed to sell an online course and grow his personal brand. I built a conversion-focused funnel and ran strategic ads to it, turning a $2,773.25 investment into $15,267.29 in sales.
Non-profit · Fundraising
Ad spend
→
Revenue
This non-profit was losing money on its fundraising ads when they brought me in. In the first month, $970 in ad spend raised $6,422, and the wider fundraising effort went on to generate more than $600K that year.
High-ticket services
Ad spend
→
Revenue
This business sells high-ticket services and products. I rebuilt the ad strategy around stronger creatives and smarter retargeting, then tightened spend and targeting, turning $2.9K into $20,472.10 in revenue.
Local market
Advertising conditions are not identical across Louisiana. Businesses competing in a major metropolitan area can face a different paid-search environment from companies serving smaller cities, suburban markets, or rural areas. The strategy should reflect those differences rather than treating an entire state as one uniform advertising market.
Louisiana has about 4.62 million residents spread across distinct regional markets: New Orleans and the Northshore, Baton Rouge, Acadiana around Lafayette, Lake Charles in the southwest and Shreveport–Bossier City in the northwest. Each has its own culture, economy and buying habits.
The state’s economy leans heavily on energy, petrochemicals, ports and shipping, healthcare and tourism. New Orleans is a major visitor destination, while the industrial corridor along the Mississippi River supports a large base of B2B suppliers and contractors.
Weather and insurance shape demand more than almost anywhere else. Hurricanes, flooding and heavy rain create recurring needs for roofing, restoration, drainage, generators and elevation work, and rising insurance costs make homeowners search carefully for protection and repairs.
You won’t find a fake local address here.
What a Louisiana business gets from me is a structure where New Orleans, Baton Rouge and smaller markets are measured separately, so budget follows the areas that actually produce customers.
Businesses operating in major metro areas often face greater advertiser density because more companies are competing for the same high-intent searches.
Smaller markets may have different challenges.
Search volume can be lower, service areas can be larger, and campaigns may need to balance efficient geographic coverage with enough search demand to produce useful data.
The correct strategy depends on the market.
That is why statewide Google Ads management should analyze performance geographically instead of assuming every city deserves the same investment.
What gets in the way
Here is where Louisiana advertisers most often lose money, and what usually fixes it.
A roofing or restoration company in New Orleans or Baton Rouge competes with local firms plus out-of-state contractors who arrive after major storms. The same company targeting central Louisiana or the northern parishes may face fewer advertisers, but much less search volume.
A company may technically serve all of Louisiana while still having areas where customers are more valuable, easier to reach, or operationally practical.
Campaigns can be segmented around:
Hurricane season from June through November dominates planning for many Louisiana businesses, with demand for generators, shutters and roofing before storms and restoration afterward. Mardi Gras, festival season and football weekends drive hospitality demand, and long, humid summers keep AC searches high.
“emergency plumber near me”
“roof repair New Orleans”
“dentist in Baton Rouge”
“business attorney Lafayette”
often reveal significantly stronger commercial intent than broad informational queries.
A local Google Ads campaign should be built around that distinction.
City by city
Here is how campaign strategy changes across four important Louisiana markets.
Greater New Orleans has roughly 960,000 residents, and the Northshore communities across Lake Pontchartrain add fast-growing suburbs such as Mandeville and Covington. Tourism, healthcare, the port and energy drive the economy.
Campaigns here need to separate tourist-focused businesses from local services, and they should be ready to change budgets quickly around storms. Neighborhood-level targeting often matters, because flood risk, housing age and income vary sharply across the region.
Baton Rouge combines state government, LSU, a large petrochemical industry and a growing healthcare sector. Suburbs such as Prairieville, Gonzales and Denham Springs have grown rapidly.
Competition is strongest in legal, medical and home services. Industrial B2B services also have strong demand along the river corridor, which calls for separate campaigns with specific keywords and job-seeker exclusions.
Lafayette is the center of Acadiana, a region with a strong Cajun cultural identity, an oil and gas service economy and a growing healthcare sector. Local loyalty and word of mouth are powerful here.
Ads that emphasize local ownership, community ties and reviews often outperform generic messaging. Energy-sector cycles also affect consumer spending, so budgets may need to adjust with the local economy.
Shreveport and Bossier City form northwest Louisiana’s main market, with healthcare, gaming, Barksdale Air Force Base and an economy closely tied to East Texas and southern Arkansas.
Many businesses serve customers across state lines, so campaigns should decide deliberately whether to include Texas and Arkansas towns. Competition is lower than in South Louisiana, which can make this market efficient.
I can also help businesses targeting customers outside Louisiana’s largest metro areas, in markets such as Lake Charles, Monroe, Alexandria, Houma, Hammond and the river parishes.
A smaller market does not automatically mean an easier campaign.
Lower search volume, larger service territories, and fewer daily conversion opportunities can make good targeting and measurement even more important.
Louisiana campaign plan
Louisiana is on Central Time. Hurricane season shapes demand for nearly every home-service business, and New Orleans, Baton Rouge and the northern part of the state are distinct markets.
Industry strategy
Not every industry needs the same Google Ads strategy. In Louisiana, hurricane exposure, the energy and petrochemical industries, and a strong tourism economy make these categories especially active.
Hurricanes, tropical storms and flooding create recurring demand for roofing, water and mold remediation, drainage, elevation work and whole-home generators.
What I focus on: weather-responsive budgets, separate campaigns for storm preparation and post-storm repairs, ad copy that builds trust against out-of-state contractors, and call tracking for booked inspections.
The industrial corridor between Baton Rouge and New Orleans, along with energy operations across South Louisiana, supports contractors, fabricators, safety companies, equipment rental firms and staffing agencies.
What I focus on: technical B2B keywords, exclusion of job-seeker traffic, location targeting around industrial areas, and tracking RFQs and qualified calls.
New Orleans and the state’s festivals attract visitors throughout the year. Hotels, tours, restaurants, event venues and transportation companies compete for travelers who often book from out of state.
What I focus on: targeting people searching about New Orleans and Louisiana events from feeder markets, timing budgets around Mardi Gras, festival season and major games, and tracking direct bookings.

Questions
Competition varies significantly by industry and location.
Greater New Orleans and Baton Rouge are the most competitive parts of Louisiana, especially for legal, healthcare, roofing and restoration keywords, and competition rises sharply after major storms. Acadiana and Shreveport are moderately competitive, while rural parishes usually have fewer advertisers.
A statewide average can hide major differences between markets.
That is why I prefer evaluating the actual keywords, cities, services, and competitors relevant to your business.
In Louisiana I see consistent Google Ads demand from roofing and restoration companies, generator installers, HVAC contractors, personal injury law firms, healthcare practices, industrial service companies and tourism businesses.
They all benefit from paid search because their customers search with urgent or high-value needs.
That depends on where customers are located and where your business can realistically serve them.
For some businesses, statewide targeting makes sense.
For others, separating New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and other priority areas provides better budget control.
They can be, especially when a larger number of advertisers compete for the same commercial searches.
However, cost per click alone does not determine profitability.
A more expensive market can still make sense if:
Yes.
Smaller markets can still contain strong commercial search demand.
The campaign may simply need a different strategy around:

Office & service area
I run Google Ads for businesses in Louisiana from my office in Washington, DC. Campaigns are geo-targeted to the cities, ZIP codes and radius you actually serve in Louisiana, so local searchers see your ads and out-of-area clicks are excluded.
