Case studies
A closer look at three client campaigns: where they started, what I changed, and what the numbers looked like afterwards.
Coach · Online course
Ad spend
→
Revenue
This coach needed to sell an online course and grow his personal brand. I built a conversion-focused funnel and ran strategic ads to it, turning a $2,773.25 investment into $15,267.29 in sales.
Non-profit · Fundraising
Ad spend
→
Revenue
This non-profit was losing money on its fundraising ads when they brought me in. In the first month, $970 in ad spend raised $6,422, and the wider fundraising effort went on to generate more than $600K that year.
High-ticket services
Ad spend
→
Revenue
This business sells high-ticket services and products. I rebuilt the ad strategy around stronger creatives and smarter retargeting, then tightened spend and targeting, turning $2.9K into $20,472.10 in revenue.
Local market
Advertising conditions are not identical across Oklahoma. Businesses competing in a major metropolitan area can face a different paid-search environment from companies serving smaller cities, suburban markets, or rural areas. The strategy should reflect those differences rather than treating an entire state as one uniform advertising market.
Oklahoma has about 4.12 million residents, and two metros dominate: Oklahoma City, with roughly 1.5 million people, and Tulsa, with about 1 million. Beyond them, Norman, Lawton, Stillwater and many smaller communities serve large rural areas.
Energy has long been central to the economy, alongside aerospace, military installations, agriculture and healthcare. Energy-industry cycles can affect consumer spending, so budgets and messaging sometimes need to adjust with the local economy.
Weather defines much of the demand. Oklahoma sits in the heart of Tornado Alley, and hail and windstorms make roofing, siding, storm shelters and restoration some of the most active search categories in the state.
You won’t find a fake local address here.
What a Oklahoma business gets from me is a structure where Oklahoma City, Tulsa and smaller markets are measured separately, so budget follows the areas that actually produce customers.
Businesses operating in major metro areas often face greater advertiser density because more companies are competing for the same high-intent searches.
Smaller markets may have different challenges.
Search volume can be lower, service areas can be larger, and campaigns may need to balance efficient geographic coverage with enough search demand to produce useful data.
The correct strategy depends on the market.
That is why statewide Google Ads management should analyze performance geographically instead of assuming every city deserves the same investment.
What gets in the way
Here is where Oklahoma advertisers most often lose money, and what usually fixes it.
A roofing company in Oklahoma City or Tulsa competes with dozens of local firms and with storm chasers who arrive after hail events, so competition and costs can jump overnight. In smaller towns, competition is lighter, but demand is more sporadic and tied to individual storms.
A company may technically serve all of Oklahoma while still having areas where customers are more valuable, easier to reach, or operationally practical.
Campaigns can be segmented around:
Spring is Oklahoma’s peak storm season, with tornadoes and hail driving huge spikes in roofing, siding and storm shelter searches. Summers are hot and drive AC demand, and winter ice storms create bursts of tree, roofing and heating searches.
“emergency plumber near me”
“roof repair Oklahoma City”
“dentist in Tulsa”
“business attorney Norman”
often reveal significantly stronger commercial intent than broad informational queries.
A local Google Ads campaign should be built around that distinction.
City by city
Here is how campaign strategy changes across four important Oklahoma markets.
Oklahoma City is the state’s largest metro and economic center, with energy, government, aerospace at Tinker Air Force Base and healthcare as major employers. Suburbs such as Edmond, Moore and Yukon continue to grow.
Campaigns should separate suburbs from the city core and be ready to scale quickly after hail storms. Strong reviews and clear local credentials help businesses stand out from out-of-town storm contractors.
Tulsa has a strong base in aerospace, energy, manufacturing and a growing technology scene supported by remote-worker incentives. Suburbs such as Broken Arrow, Owasso and Jenks are fast-growing family communities.
Competition is significant in home services and legal categories. Splitting campaigns by suburb and tracking calls carefully helps identify which areas produce the most valuable customers.
Norman, home to the University of Oklahoma, is part of the Oklahoma City metro but has its own identity and customer base, including students, faculty and families.
Businesses here should consider the academic calendar, as student-related demand rises and falls with the school year, while home services follow the same storm-driven patterns as the rest of the metro.
Lawton is anchored by Fort Sill, a major Army post, and serves a wide rural region. Many residents are military families who move frequently and rely heavily on search to find providers.
Mobile-first landing pages, clear contact options and ads that mention service for military families can perform well here.
I can also help businesses targeting customers outside Oklahoma’s largest metro areas, in markets such as Stillwater, Enid, Muskogee, Shawnee, Ardmore, Bartlesville and Ponca City.
A smaller market does not automatically mean an easier campaign.
Lower search volume, larger service territories, and fewer daily conversion opportunities can make good targeting and measurement even more important.
Oklahoma campaign plan
Oklahoma is on Central Time. Oklahoma City and Tulsa carry most of the volume, and severe-weather season drives sharp spikes in roofing, restoration and auto glass searches.
Industry strategy
Not every industry needs the same Google Ads strategy. In Oklahoma, severe weather, the energy industry and two growing metro areas make these categories especially active.
Oklahoma regularly sees some of the most damaging hail and wind storms in the country, creating huge demand for roof and siding replacement, gutter repair and insurance-claim support.
What I focus on: storm-responsive budgets, separate campaigns for emergency repair and replacement, trust-building ad copy against storm chasers, and tracking inspections and signed contracts.
Tornado risk makes storm shelters and safe rooms a meaningful category in Oklahoma, with demand rising every spring and after major events.
What I focus on: seasonal campaigns ahead of tornado season, ad copy focused on safety and installation timelines, and tracking quote requests and booked installs.
Oil and gas operations across the state support equipment suppliers, trucking companies, fabricators, environmental services and staffing agencies.
What I focus on: technical B2B keywords, exclusion of job-seeker traffic, location targeting around active fields, and tracking RFQs and qualified calls.

Questions
Competition varies significantly by industry and location.
Oklahoma City and Tulsa are the most competitive parts of the state, especially for roofing, legal and healthcare keywords, and roofing competition spikes after major hail storms. Smaller cities and rural areas usually have fewer advertisers and lower costs per click.
A statewide average can hide major differences between markets.
That is why I prefer evaluating the actual keywords, cities, services, and competitors relevant to your business.
In Oklahoma I see consistent Google Ads demand from roofing and siding contractors, storm shelter installers, HVAC companies, personal injury law firms, healthcare practices, home builders and energy-sector B2B suppliers.
They benefit from paid search because their customers search urgently, often right after a storm.
That depends on where customers are located and where your business can realistically serve them.
For some businesses, statewide targeting makes sense.
For others, separating Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and other priority areas provides better budget control.
They can be, especially when a larger number of advertisers compete for the same commercial searches.
However, cost per click alone does not determine profitability.
A more expensive market can still make sense if:
Yes.
Smaller markets can still contain strong commercial search demand.
The campaign may simply need a different strategy around:

Office & service area
I run Google Ads for businesses in Oklahoma from my office in Washington, DC.
